Internships of Undergraduate University Studies in Medicine

INFORMATION ON THE MEDICAL INTERNSHIP

What is medical internship?

It is a compulsory didactic activity included in the Curriculum of the Faculty of Medicine, starting with the 1st year up to the 5th year of study.

What is the duration and period of internship?

According to the curriculum, the number of hours assigned for the summer internship is 120 hours for each year of study.

The medical internship shall take place for a period of maximum 4 weeks, 8 hours/day at the maximum.

As to the internship duration, what matters the most is the number of hours and not the number of days. For example, if a student performs 6 hours of practice/day, the internship will take 20 working days; whereas if he/she performs 8 hours of practice/day, the internship will take 15 working days.

The internship may take place between the 8th of July and the 18th of September 2019 and may begin any day within the period mentioned above (for example, in order to achieve 120 hours of internship, 8 hours of practice/day, the internship should begin on the 28th of August 2019 the latest).

Framework-Convention on Internship

It can be downloaded from the Faculty of Medicine website. It will be signed by the internship partners (general practitioners/hospital managers), by the student and then by the UMF representative. The students who will perform their internship in Romania have to submit the Framework-Convention in Romanian language (no matter what their language of study is: Romanian, French or English). The students who perform their internship outside Romania will use the Framework-Conventions in French or English, as the case may be.

The Framework-Convention must be signed by the manager of the establishment where the internship takes place, by the head of the clinical section and by the guiding doctor/internship tutor; DO NOT FORGET that the blank for the tutor’s specialty must also be filled in. In the case of the 1st and 5th year students, the Framework-Convention must be signed by the general practitioner who supervises the medical internship;

The Framework-Convention must be submitted in original form at the Decanat of the Faculty of Medicine until the 23rd of September 2019.
